For the last couple of days there have been minor delays on the Bakerloo due to "shortage of serviceable rolling stock" anyone know what the problem is?

Not the acid etching scum at work again is it?

Would that make a train unserviceable? If trains have to be in good condition to run in service, all C stock and half the A stock would be out of service.

Because the acid used (like/is Hydrochloric) is not very nice and passengers and staff have been injured by it before. It is sent to the depot, where it is neutralised. Sadly, some of the vandals realised this, so re-applied it over previously neutralised etchings. The company standard is that if the graffitti is wet or offensve then the train is removed from service.

Because the acid used (like/is Hydrochloric) is not very nice It is a hydrofluoric acid - volatile and highly poisonous, it is much more dangerous than any other mineral acid.

To clarify, the trains have not been out of service due to acid etching. It's due to other defects.

What's the reason for the problems? I hope the 72s can make it till 2019-they'll be the only 'decent' trains left by then!

-they'll be the only 'decent' trains left by then! You're sure? Asked the t/ops who have to put up with 'em? Last time I travelled on one the poor t/op lost his pilot light on starting at EVERY station between Picc Circus and Paddington. Fancy doing 4 hours on that heap of junk. The brakes felt even worse than usual too..... They were good in their day - - but that was yesterday!

They are lovely little trains and I'm glad they're going to be around for quite a bit longer. I believe the current issues with stock availability are to do with Metronet not being able to keep up with maintenance. Lots of small issues have been ignored and now there are a whole heap of them, all affecting other issues and all suddenly requiring attention.

When some 67TS from the Victoria go to the Bakerloo for the Watford service, stock shortages could happen less often, if they transfer enough.

The problem is there is nowhere to keep them! Some sidings in the Watford area will need to be refurbished/rebuilt-and then they won't be safe!

I remember some months ago when this happened on the Vic line the vandals must have hurled a container of the stuff up the carriage made a real mess, the floor was totally ruined and required a complete refit, what was achieved from this act who knows!!!!

Would loss of the PL explain what happened to my train yesterday morning between Marylebone and Regent's Park - whereby shortly after starting it felt as though tht circuit breaker cut in, then the t/o notched up again, breaker cut-in again, etc., etc., and each time we were asked by the DVA to stand clear of the doors? The latter was rather difficult given that it was the height of the peak! So perhaps there was actually something caught in the doors...

The latter was rather difficult given that it was the height of the peak! So perhaps there was actually something caught in the doors... Yes, that's probably it. Something is causing the doors to open slightly and that could be either something jammed there (a pen, a newspaper etc) or it could be there's a weak door interlock or even just somebody leaning on the doors and pushing them open a bit (this can be a big problem at peak!). Either way the acceleration of the train is opening the doors slightly which means the motors cut out. Incidentally, the DVA doesn't operate by itself in that situation - the driver has to press the button to make that announcement. If it was me I'd be doing an announcement myself as I think people don't always listen to the DVA.

If the train is consistantly losing pilot light when starting up,it's probably a converted Mk1,should work O.K. if the driver uses rate 1.
