So whats happening to all the vic line staff and drivers during these many weekend shutdowns and early evenings? Are there simply no shifts scheduled or are different jobs being worked? Hope everyone is still getting paid their regular amount.

I think you can safely assume that they will all get paid the same!

We all work as normal - station side, we still have other lines and/or National Rail services, so remain open, more or less as normal. Drivers, I believe, have training sessions and P&D's planned in for them. I think you can safely assume that they will all get paid the same! You'd be absolutely correct in that assumption!

P&D's are a waste of time sorry! Very few managers IMHO do them even remotely well, if at all!
I dont mean to hijack the thread!

Performance and Development.... career prospects I assume. They claim it is not a paperwork excercise.... Senior management also seem to think that you do get to do some of the things discussed at P&Ds - They should get out more! They used this as an excuse for getting in more direct recruits....

A special timetable is in operation for the early closures, and with this goes an amended drivers' duty book. Mostly the duties follow the normal ones, except the lates, which finish earlier than normal.
For the weekend closures, we still have to turn up at the appointed time. P&D and various training sessions have all been flogged to death, so pool games, watching TV, reading, chatting and getting very bored are all the order of the day until management release us. We also have the option of taking it as annual leave, but since most of us can stand the boredom in exchange for getting paid for sitting on our fat backsides all day, management have long since given up encouraging that option.

If you dont mind me asking what drivers do during non-traffic hours? seems silly that you are rostered when no trains are operational.

A typical night turn from the 1960s: Book on Northfields 22:30 ATE about 22:50 to Cock - S Harrow (last WB Passenger) - Acton - Uxbridge staff arrive 02:10 Grub (bring your own of course), feed station cat, snooze for an hour then: UXB 04:12 staff to W Ken - Hlow - ATE finish about 06:05. A snip!!!

Or how about an Edgware Road night turn from the mid 90's - pick up on the West about 2330ish, round the Circle to Baker, and up to Neasden about 0130. Out of Neasden at 0439, staff to Baker St, passenger to Liverpool St, reverse, back to Edgware Rd, twice round the Circle, down to Hammersmith and back to Edgware Road, finishing at 0756 ERD E/B
