I realise that funds are tight everywhere nowadays, but I wondered if there are any plans to restore the remaining TS 1962 sandite unit(s?) back to original condition for special runs.
I'm not even sure if there's more than one of these trains left, but it would be good if there was a chance of a TS 1962 heritage train. Especially as the TS 1938 one is only four carriages long.
Also, on the same subject, does anyone think that any of the surface stock trains will be kept for the same purpose once the 'S' stock has taken over. While it seems odd to me to save, for example, one of the 'D' stock trains, they will in time be seen as part of the Underground's heritage. Given that the chance for a working CO/CP or R stock train seems to have slipped through the net, it would be a shame if the same were to happen to the generation of trains that replaced them.

Cravens Heritage Trains are restoring a working four car 62ts unit! On the visit to the Depot in march one of the guys there said there were plans to save a four car unit of A60/62 stock (although space is at a premium [and the standard stock may have to go]). I'm not sure about the C and D stock.
Currently the preserved list is as follows: 3 car set of 1960ts with a 38ts trailer 4 car set of 1962ts 4 car set of 1938ts Met Bo-bo No12
In the pipeline is 4 car set of Q stock 2xQ38 1xQ35 1xQ23 4 car set of pre-1938 Standard stock 4 car set of A60 stock

I think a 4 Car Set of a A-Stock in a preserved and working order is a must!
But i have a Idea! a Heritage Line from Watford to Chesham/ Amersham (over the Unused Triangle Track) every Weekend or Holidays with a Historic Train! and when the Metropolitan Line uses the Watford Green Branch to Watford Junction - the old Watford Terminus are a Interesting Storage for Historic Trains (but the Station needs a Train Shed with Doors!)
But London Underground can not more Errors with the Preservation of Trains (... for the F Stock is this too late!)
Standard Stock 1938 Tube Stock 1960 Tube Stock 1962 Tube Stock 1967 Tube Stock - the sucessor and series Train of the 1960 Tube Stock
Q Stock A Stock Nr. 12
8 Trains
or a A-Stock with a Luxury Interior - a remember of the Metropolitan Pullman - the Train for Charter a Wedding or a Round-Age-Birthday Party. DM "A" is a Kitchen Car - Trailer with a Dining Room - Trailer with a Bar and the DM"D" is a second Room for Dining etc.
Greetings
Dennis

To be honest, Aldwych's idea isn't that barmy - for a long while now no one has come out and said that the original Watford station will be closing when the Croxley Link is completed. Given the current moaning over funding though, it seems unlikely that the link will be built at all though, but if it did, I wonder if any serious re-consideration of the current Watford station's status (which is actually pretty good IMO, since it serves a part of Watford that will lose direct services to Harrow and London if the station is closed) was made.

I don't think the Croxley Link will be build either!
An A stock train is a must although I'm not sure I'd like the interiors wrecked like that! They should alter the 4TC unit! Everyone loves steam.....

I would love to see 2 4-car units of A stock as heritage trains. One with the original 1960s seat design, line maps, "London TransporT" logo, etc; and the other in the current LUL corporate logo.

The A stock in the original logo--I would have it redesigned to include guard's controls. Maybe also run it between the current Watford station and Chesham as a heritage route on the weekends if the Met is ever extended to Watford Junction.

Keep the original train as OPO, but allow the guard to operate too!

Designing a 'pilot light in/out' switch Here(cab) and Here(guard) wouldn't be difficult; however, the paperchase involved in proving/controlling the different modes of operation could prove to be quite a headache! ;D

Dont forget about the 3 car set of COCP stock at Quainton. I believe its a long term aspiration to return it to working order. The Vintage carriage trust has 3 drednaught coaches; I'd love to see them reunited with Sarah for a run.
It would be possible (though expensive) to still create another 3 car set of 38ts to make a full 7 car train. Buy a couple of DM's back from the IOW once theyre done with them and add the trailer TRC927 which is at Acton at the moment I think. If it would prove impossible to return this to the same era as the 4car unit (60's/70's) then I suggest....shock horror...giving them the decor and paint job of current; any original features could be used as spares for the other 4 cars.

The CO/CP stock could not run on its own because there is only 1 compressor. However, it the R38 car at Magnapps could be turned into an A end CP stock car, it could run with he Walthamstow CP car to make a 5 car DM-T-DM+DM-DM train. All these cars re in a bit of a state tho!

You sure it only has one? I cant remember which car is O stock and which is P and their orientation.
It would presumably be cheaper though to fit an extra compressor to the DM that lacked one?

Sorry metman, ignor my ignorance! Just read through STS and the answer was in there; one compressor per 2/3 car set. Which means theres a 50% chance it would be possible to fit another compressor. Question is were they fitted to A end or D end cars...
