Harry Beck's Style of Map was submitted about a year before it was accepted and it would seem that the vertical depiction of the Stanmore Line ( opened in late 1932 ) was an afterthought added before the map was accepted. The rather awkward depiction of the line between Edgware Road and Notting Hill Gate is also unusual as a 45 % angle appears almost obvious. Both were amended before the second edition was issued.
