Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere in a thread I've missed.
National Geographic channel, have a new series of their "seconds from disaster" show screening at the moment.
The first episode in this new series, features The Kings Cross Fire of 1987. I watched it yesterday and it is undoubtedly worth viewing, forgive them a bit of current footage 1995 stock .... mixed with 1959, 1938 and 1983 stock to name a few, plus other footage from the time and recreation of the investigation. Bit's did bring a tear to my eye and we must remember the profound effect that event has had on London Underground and safety ever since, it remains at the forefront of teachings for new recruits.
Episode re-runs at these times
4 May, 5.00pm 7 May, 9.00pm 8 May, 12.00am 10 May, 9.00pm 11 May, 12.00am 13 May, 4.00pm 17 May, 9.00am 17 May, 4.00pm 22 May, 11.00pm 26 May, 11.00pm 29 May, 4.00pm 29 May, 8.00pm 1 June, 9.00am 1 June, 2.00pm 3 June, 3.00pm
and there is also National geographic +1hour if you have sky tv.

I had to travel through the station just after it re-opened to the public. Was one of the most sobering sights i've seen.
It was a good episode. A lot of aspects were left out, but may have made the episode too complicated. This one event changed the entire safety culture on the underground. These lessons had to be learnt. It was just a huge shame that 31 people had to perish in order to get practices changed.
Lets just hope new legislation coming in doesn't water down the lessons learnt and our current procedures that followed after this tragic event.
