It looks like Pigs Bay at Shoeburyness to me, where lots of withdrawn stock is kept, awaiting scrapping or storage.

what is "Pigs Bay"?
are this a industrial Railway or a former Passenger Branch?

I would say [and doubtless will be corrected] it was a MOD Railway, and when they ran it down, allowed BR/rail operators to store their vehicles on its land. Here is a snap of an Ex-BR class 310. justin-buckley.fotopic.net/p25742393.html

i have ever think the storage is the enclosed area (with the track harpĀ“s)! But a "Single" (and very long) Siding is unknown to me!
had the "long" (rail) Line originally another purpose? (Millitary!)

Well I don't think 310's are in the pipeline for preservation - which is a shame - but this lot like 308's & 9's: group.acemu.co.uk/index.htm

at Google Earth - the Tube Stocks are lost! the Picture from Google Earth are other Trains stored - but the blue Door 1972 Tube Stock (is now scrapped!) can you see at the secured place at Shoeburyness!
