I think some old trains have been at Lillie Bridge for ages. I was on a course a few years back that invloved going into the yard and there were some old trains. Probably just being kept out of the way!

Just for info - the tunnel cleaning train is currently stabled at Northfields. First time I've seen that.

yeah, 38ts TCT, pending decision on its future... its kaput apparently... That 72ts at LLB is looking like to be being the candidate for the Mk2 TCT, and may be being stored there, pending conversion. The old 38ts TCT was at West Ruilsip on Tuesday.

I thought the 4-car 1972mkI slated to become the TRT had already been converted, or nearly so.

The 72ts unit at LLB, might just be the same one that failed, blocking the overlap onto District tracks at West Ken...
TOK, I have heard no more about the supposedly converted 72ts, apart from the initial plans to do so... perhaps our friends at Lille Bridge might be able to elude further info!

TCT = Tunnel Cleaning Train TRT = Track Recording Train
Are we all talking about the same thing here?
AFAIK the TRT is in an advanced state of modification at Northfields - making this 72ts a completely different train altogether!

I thought that the present TCT was sandwiched between two battery locos?

According to the April UndergrounD News, unit 3213-4213-4313-3313 was transferred from Northfields to Lillie Bridge on morning of 16 Feb. (this unit last saw passenger service 2/11/98)
It was then taken by road to WEBTEC at Doncaster for conversion into the 'Asset Inspection Train'.
As 'Artery' Train Op already said it did indeed fail upon entry into Lillie Bridge Depot. It had a motor defect on 3213 from Turnham Green then stalled while going into LB, a battery loco was send down the neck to pull it in!

The operation to send a battery loco down, was not as simple as it sounds... because of the signalling o/laps the battery loco had to pass two or three reds! It took a while to complete the movement. And played nicely with the service...
