I took a trip to Covent Gardens LU shop on Thursday and purchased (amongst other things) the Video 225 'Ongar to West Ruislip' DEV. The drivers eye view from EPP - WER was preceeded by some footage dating to (I think) 1992 featuring various scenes from the EPP - ONG branch.
One scene featured a 1960 stock train approaching Epping, with the driver blasting the whistle and waving his arm at the cameraman in a gesture to stand back behind the platform. When the train pulled past the camera the driver shouted "GET OFF THE EDGE OF THE PLATFORM!!" and the train arrived at the station.
I am very surprised this clip made it into a 'professional' video (I wouldn't have included it), I was wondering if any other members had come across unusual items in productions such as this?

I haven't any of my own examples, but I think including the scene from Epping makes 225 very unproffesional indeed, IMO. Why not just go back another day and re-film it? If they were proffesional, they would have been a safe distance from the platform edge.

I haven't got any of the 225 DVD's, they seem rather over priced, plus the in-tunnel sections are cut down... I think the West Rui - Epping one is cut to 60-odd minutes, but in real life it is about 1/3 longer than this, c. 86-88 minutes...
Do we see the driver of the 60ts?

We see (I think) two 60TS drivers in the presentation, it could be one of them, but the cab passes very quickly and you don't get a decent look. Shame really.............

Yeah, think at the time there was a pool of T/op rostered to work the branch permanently... Wonder if it is the same guy from the V125 one?

Having a particular personal interest, I'm surprised and rather disturbed by this post and the released media.
Is "Video 225" related in any way to "Video 125" ? Serious question, please.
Cheers, OngarParkNRide

No, they are not in any way, as far as I know, related... 225 is based in Essex, where as 125 is based in Ascot, Berkshire.

Another dumb question, from a long time Video 125 watcher...
Why 225? Why not something completely original instead of copying 125 in a way?
Also, nothing out of the usual but the worst I've seen on a 125 DVD was the District at Dagenham East or somewhere similar, where a group of chavs seemed to be eyeing off the camera as a train pulled in...

They used 225 presumably to identify themselves with the market leader. They are two very different markets. Lots of research and planning go into V125 titles [Generally 3 months per title] Hence, why they call them Driver's eye views. 225 Studios are done on the cheap [very enjoyable some of them though] I have several. I purchased one of their tube ones, once it goes into the tunnel, it is like staring at a black screen, totally boring and monotonous imho. If anyone is interested. For objectivity I include both! ;D www.video125.co.ukwww.225studios.com

Whether by coincidence or design, V125 and V225 represent the two (working) phases of High Speed Trains in the UK. For the benefit of our foreign friends our diesel HSTs run at 125(mph) and our High speed electrics (were designed to) run at 140mph, which just happens to be 225 in kph, and were publicly advertised as such.
I suspect both companies (separately) chose these numbers to imply they were at the cutting edge of railway technology.

That is certainly the case with V125, as to 225? Bit of both I would imagine [IC225 and identifying with V125]

A lot of the general public refer to class 91s as "225s".

the driver on the over priced studio 225 doesent look like a tube driver the quality is about as good as a dispoible camera for a quid its almost as if they do it for fun by the way what is the point of having a drivers eye view of the dlr you can just look out of the front window and video 125 also shows the guard and IS professional.

Another company does a 'Cab Ride' of the Manchester Metrolink, unfortunately the camera is too low, so you just see tree tops, because the cab divider/window is in the way!

RETURN Southend (Victoria) - Liverpool Street RT 97m £21.99 From 225 website. D'you think that means that it's just one way, or both? The actual run takes 60 mins, give or take a few.

The "RETURN" suggests it is both directions... remember they cut the station stops out.

I've got a few of the 225 (and indeed the 125) productions. Video 125 cater for a very specific market and are professionally recorded, edited and narrated with lineside shots and sometimes (for example on the V125 Settle-Carlisle production) they even use a helicopter to record the beauty of the surrounding areas etc. 225 Studios productions are simple, basic cab-rides. Nothing more, nothing less. The price may be a bit high considering the only editing seems to be of station stops, but if you want a basic cab-ride video, then these are for you! As I say, I've got several from each company, and enjoy watching each in their own right. There's also a company called 'Runfurrow' which do a similar cab-ride to 225 (no commentary etc). Again I've got a couple of their vids which are quite interesting. Shame their website is quite hard on the eyes and doesn't appear to have been updated for a long time.

Solibond's District Line DVDs show what can be done - so why are 225's products so poor?
I would love to see some 'Solidbond' type DVDs of other lines.
