Came across this news article: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/coventry_city/6184342.stmWhich I thought was funny...but I was wondering whether the article was accurate. The manager said he bought 23 tickets at Hanger Lane station, and one of the players knew they had to change at Hammersmith to reach Shepherds Bush. It sounds like they didn't use the Central Line at all, ended up going to Park Royal on the Piccadilly Line and using that route to Hammersmith, then using the H+C to Shepherds Bush.

Yup, sounds like you're right soultrain and BBC's reporting of details is as accurate as usual......... Must have been Park Royal. Hanger Lane to SB is direct as you say!!
And of course the pic of the train is neither 73ts OR 92ts!!! But don't let that worry them either!

Not quite as right as you might think, Phil. It was Coventry City FC rather than Coventry FC who were reliant on the Underground on Saturday. The latter team, as any afficionado of the oval ball game will tell you, play rugby union at Coundon Road rather than association football at the Ricoh Arena. They are one of twelve rugby teams (eleven union, one league) who are entitled to use the suffix FC (rather than RFC, RUFC or RLFC) due to being formed before the (English) Rugby Football Union in 1871.

THC ...............................which of course makes the BBC report even more inaccurate. Oh well! I know about Bath FC, but not Coventry. We learn every day. All new information gratefully absorbed.
