I made a nostalgic trip today back to where I commuted from 1966-68ish, and then 1973-1981. Hounslow West has still got its Passimeter building, but the former twi ticket office windows are now down to one very well-used one, with it seems the office extended out from the original wall.

A view of the downstairs! To the left and right were staircases, and you can just about see the P1 (left) trackbed, with the wall behind the buffer bar stop. There were lavatories down there in the front under the building, and you could access the two final platforms by the pathway round the front of the trains. Only the left staircase remains.

A view of the bnack standing just about where the original car park was, on an embankment above P2. The Ford Sierra estate had 10 yes ten £50 Penalty Notices on it, and a tax disc that ran out end June 2007! It appeared as though the car was lived in at some stage, but why has it not been removed & crushed?

A view of where the town end of P1 was, with P2 to the left and P3, the first to go, where the train is. For several years after the new station opened, part of P1 was still extant and could be seen from the walkway. The old waiting kiosk remained, and on it a white wooden sign with details of when trains stopped at Turnham Green! Also, on the left of the EB there was a "yard" site run by WC French the HW> Hatton Cross contractors. The civil engineer in charge was one David Bird, who was a Scout Leader. He now lives in North Wales. A very nice man, and full of information about the works as it happened.
