Ladies & Gents A conversation with a photography friend has resulted in a almost perfect answer to underground photography blur (remember that you cannot use a flash when using a camera on LU/mainline railways in the UK & also probably abroad too). I have a Canon EOS SLR camera (a 400D for the cameraspotters among you ;D ;D ;D) The recommendation: buy a nifty fifty... a Canon EF 50mm f1:18 MK2 lens.... so called for two very good reasons... - as you can see its a 50mm lens
- it retails (on ebay anyway) for just under £50
The idea being that the aperture is 1.8 as opposed to the standard 3.5-5.6 on the standard 18-55mm lens - these are the results taken today: and Its not perfect as you will still get some blurring with trains moving into tunnels at fast speed, however you could always throw more money at an alternative solution.... - 1.4 version aperture retailing at approx £223 minimum
or
- 1.2 version aperture at £904 minimum
Remember also that regardless of the version you may choose that it is a 50mm lens... so you positioning is important in relation to the subject... personally I'm very impressed Ok I've been very sad & uploaded 185 images this evening before going to bed and I've incurred the wroth of Mel as she's just asked me what time I'm going to bed.... ;D - I hope you're grateful All today's images can be found at cjw.fpic.co.uk
