OK, i take it that photography on LU is allowed, but what about videotaking??
I presume its banned because of the current terrorist situations at the moment??

It's allowed. But some staff of the jobsworth variety will try to tell you otherwise.

As long as you don't use tripods or flash (in both open and tunnel sections) you're fine.

I've taken video and pics on the underground and never had a problem. Even videoed through the fence at Uxbridge sidings (in Sainsburys car park) as there was 83 stock stabled there, there were people about and they didn't say anything. You have got to watch that flash button at the moment though. Some people will think a small explosion has gone off somewhere.

yeah lol i know
but if i take a camcorder on the tube, will it pi$$ the other commuters off, do u think? (say if i do it at off-peak times)??
also, does anyone think it should be banned, judging by the current terrorist threat (read it in the news a few days ago) to London still? it'll be a pretty easy way to gain info about stations, surely - videoing them??

I took some footage on the Glasgow Subway last year, but its analogue so I cant put it on my site, I plan to have videos in the future.
When I took this video I stood next to the Platform Assistant and he didn't mind and none of the other commuters even noticed I was taking video, with Glasgow being a smaller Subway their policies would probably be tighter, so you should be OK in London.
If in doubt ask station staff before taking the video.

Joe et al Check out the link below for advice from DD re photography on the Underground: www.trainweb.org/districtdave/html/photos_on_lu.htmlAs with most things in life, just use your common sense re what you should and shouldn't do and as DD states don't try to preach the rules & regs to staff... it won't go in your favour... Regards Christopher

You have got to watch that flash button at the moment though. Some people will think a small explosion has gone off somewhere. Sorry, you're way off on that one. You cannot use a flash full stop. This has always been the case, and is because drivers coming out of dark tunnels do not appreciate a flash in the face

but someone did say to me that at the moment a flash may look a bit sinister, and some more nervous people would probably freak out I dimly recall a story from the driver who had a flash in his face. Not a pleasant experience by any means... BTW in Moscow Metro I regularly see groups of tourists photographing stations using flash, and no one really notices them (unless they obstruct the passageway completely). Fortunately these exercises happen in the central hall - far enough from the drivers' eyes.
