just through my personal experiences with sky boxes stay clear of the sony models they have a bug in them which causes the box to go into standby mode quite often just thought i would pass this on i get my new boxes from a sky man for £30 brand new and if you want to know a way of upgrading your sky + box to a higher capacity but do not want to pay sky for there expensive box just let me know via a PM

We had a really nice pace box installed and then one morning it could not pick up a signal so now we have the ugliest Thomson box in the world. Looks like it mas made 15 years ago, though it was brand new when installed 3 months ago.
I want my pace back!!!

If you've got a Sky+ V2 (Pace Box), I can recommend the Maxtor 6B160P0 160GB Hard Drive if you're doing the self upgrade. Was forced to upgrade the hard drive after two years (atleast, that's what I told the other half!) when the box started to drop recordings, loose series links, stop playback 10minutes before the end of every recording (forcing a reboot).etc. It seems that the original 40GB HDs aren't all that robust.
