Given the imminent closure of the line from this weekend I decided to photograph it before the trains get sent away to be assimilated into the corporate livery. The first time I tried (the weekend of the Acton depot open day) I was caught out by planned engineering work. When I tried last Wednesday the line was closed in the morning because of radio failure, but I managed to get back in the afternoon before I was thwated again. My photos can be found hereI wasn't expecting any explicit Network Southeast branding to still be present, so was somewhat suprised to see the logo as well as the LU roundel. Are these the last trains running with more than the colour scheme?

Indeed, some of the NSE branding was never removed (more effort to remove it than anything, especially since NSE was privatised so not even a breach-of-logo-use issue was present). It will be now though.

I hope we've got some correspondant's "on the ground" ready to get some pics when the trains get lifted. As i'm working for the next six days, i've got no chance

As i'm working for the next six days, i've got no chance I was wondering when the trains are actually going to be lifted myself. How long does it take to decouple the semi-permanantly coupled units of two carriages because there's 10 of these to do, and nothing can be lifted until that has been completed.

COLIN, let us know when you've got a more precise date! I'd like to go and photo that!

As i'm working for the next six days, i've got no chance I'm going to have a shot at it, but the area is going to be cordoned off and the best views have been reserved for the press. However after working on the project I'm hoping to call in a favour or two...

I shouldn't think it takes that long to do. COLIN, let us know when you've got a more precise date! I'd like to go and photo that! Sam I don't know when they're coming out!! I'm just hoping someone somewhere does

Got some pics too: stephen-barker.fotopic.net/c911448.htmlUnfortunately by the time I got to Waterloo from Marylebone it was clouding over heavily so stephenk's shot of a carriage in the air is the best one (mine are all dark). Edit by Colin: url's changed to links that work.Edit: Changed hosting because Flickr was screwing up left, right and centre. This link now definately works!

At least you managed to get a photo with the London Eye in the background. I kicked myself when I realised I missed that photo opportunity. I had to photoshop my photos quite a bit due to the light conditions.

What is absolutely extraordinary (to traditionalists) is that the cars are being lifted with bogies attached. Most unusual.

Hi
I read the cars are to be refurbed at Doncaster. Does anyone know the approximate times they're going to be sent there? From this Thursday I'm free and can nip down to get some photos if they're arriving at that time (otherwise could be able to get shots of them from vantage points)
TIA

If that is the case they would all be in Doncaster by now.

After 13 years of being underground they are being left outside. I hope they don't get sunburn!

Is it just me, or does that picture look as if it's been taken from the driver's side of the car?
