Has anyone else noticed that the countdown timer to the W&C reopening on Metronet's website has been removed?

I am led to assume the destinations on the W&C 92TS are stickers. Just earlier I was looking at *version3point1's pics, and saw WATERLOO on the destination, and the train was dangling in midair. Wierd innit?

must have been there around the same time as me, because I saw 506 being hoisted up... 706 was away down the road, still on the lorry...

Just a heads up, that assuming things go as planned, the refurbished trains will be lifted back into the Drain on the weekends of 5/6th and 12/13th August. I just drove up Lilian Bayliss Road (where the crane was last weekend), at about 3.30am and there was not a single crane, orange jacket, van or road closure advance notice sign to be seen (in fact last week's are still lying in the road). I take it the 2nd part of the lift-in is postponed - anybody know the new date? The complete absense of road closure advance notice signs suggests it is postponed at least one or two weeks?

It certainly looking like the second lift in has been delayed. I'm going to pop down there this morning anyway, to pick up this months Underground News from Ian Allen Bookshop. I'll try and find out more if I can. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, the countdown to reopening clock on Metronet's website was removed over a week ago.

Could be the lift in has been cancelled this weekend due to the Wind & Rain.

There's no signs giving advance notice of the road closure though. If it had only been cancelled during the week they would have still put those up, as it is, last weekend's are still lying discarded in the road.
Doesn't seem to be a last minute cancellation to me, will have to wait until someone involved in the project reveals more.

The weatherforecast would presumably have been predicting unsuitable weather from around tuesday I'd have thought. I don't know for certain, but I would expect that cancelling the crane hire and road closures midweek rather than the day before will be cheaper all round. Depending where the crane company's depot is it could take them a day to get everything to Waterloo anyway.
Again, this is only speculation, but I'd be suprised if cancelling a road closure required any significant paperwork - particuarly when compared to requesting it in the first place. I also expect (or would hope be a better word?) that when they were booking the road closures they would have requested some more dates for contingency. If so you might be able to find out by looking at the website of the local council as I know Somerset and North Somerset both advertise advance notice of road closures this way.

According to the engineers I spoke to today who were lifting stuff out, the lift in was not cancelled due to the weather!

Or was the 12th / 13th just a back up date?
I heard a rumour that all five trains were used for testing today - but I must stress that I do not consider my source to be reliable.

That would be difficult as even Metronet have stated that only the first batch of trains (2) went in last weekend as planned. There are still 3 trains to go in, and at least 2 battery locos to come out.

Next weekend should have been a back-up date. While I do know what the full story is, it will suffice to say that stephenk is correct and the lift in wasn't cancelled because of the weather. There is still some work to be done downstairs before the rest of the trains can go in.

There were 4 battery locos down there. 2 were removed last weekend, the next 2 during the next lift.

The crane is on site and built. The engineers say they expect to start lifting the carriages in from about 8/9am on Saturday. At the time of writing, none of them have been delivered to site yet.

I'm heading down there for about 10am ish.
Edit at 4pm:
As of 3pm there were 10 more cars to be craned in. There was a long hold up until nearly 2pm, although I'm not sure what caused the delay. They are now going in at a rate of approx 1 car/hour. When I arrived at 10am there was the unusual sight of seeing 11 carriages parked along Bayliss Road (lets hope they are not vandalised before they are even craned in!). I will add my photos later.

Are there any lifts tomorrow (Sunday)? Or has all the lifts been completed? As of 10pm tonight, there were just 3 cars to go in. So, if you missed it today, you are too late I'm afraid. I took a few night photos as well, which I will add to my photosite soon. Edit: Night photos of 92TS on trailers, and Anne the battery locomotive now online at the usual place.

Went past just now at about 1am, looked like the last car had just gone in as they were just lifting the empty cradle out of the hole and I then watched them start to take the crane down. I expect there will be no sign of it ever having happened by about 6am!
Saw one battery loco parked on a low loader ready to go, I expect the other one left earlier.

What will become of the battery locmotives now the job they were built for has been done? As far as I know, Metronet may retain them and use them on other projects. Where they will live I don't know.
