I was at Waterloo the other day, and I had a look at the 'hole' above the W&C depot where they lift the cars out. There's only a two tonne crane on site, and there appears to be no jacks at depot level that would lift a car out. So it occured to me, how do they actually get the trains out? - I've never seen a low-loader with a crane capable of lifting a tube car, and I wouldn't have thought they just bring a stronger crane in, dump the car on Spur Road, then winch it onto a low loader. Any ideas?
;D

IIRC when they withdrew the ex Southern Rly 1940(1?) stock and replaced it with the present offering they brought in a stonking great road crane and swapped the lot over a weekend.
Sorry can't remember where they "parked" the lifted vehicles or those waiting to go down. I'll look through some back copies of magazines and see what I can find.

Sorry can't remember where they "parked" the lifted vehicles or those waiting to go down. Maybe they got clamped and towed away. Those people will do anything. Reminds me of this unrelated quote: Homer: "Here are you messages. You car has been clamped. You have 30 mins to remove you car. You have 20 mins to remove your car. You car has been towed away. Your car has been crushed into a cube. You have 30 mins to remove your cube."

There's a road which [used to] overlook the depot, I think it's Lower Marsh, which was IIRC where I was told it was done. I could be wrong (and probably am)

I could be wrong (and probably am) Lower Marsh is on top of the depot (still), but it's quite narrow and they hold a market there every day IIRC - I was thinking they may have done it there when I walked down it, but it's certainly not the best of roads to park trains on [off topic] I seem to remember a good transport bookshop on Lower Marsh - am I imagining it?[/off topic]

I think that I've seen the removal of the old stock and arrival of the new in one of those 'online' videos, but am not sure which one.

AFAIK the 92TS are going to be left down the Drain, and once life expired all the Central 92TS will join them with Readymix waiting in the wings to do a big 'pour', should do it now and rid us all of such rubbish trains.......Tripcocks and Trainstops forever.
