How will the maintenance changeover between Metronet and Network Rail be handled?

I would imagine that once the operational railway closes, and the last train goes through St Mary's junction; Metronet will secure the points out of use, chop the rails, remove the traction current supply and the hand the lot over.

From what I've heard from the project team (although that was a year ago), they are planning to keep the connection, minus any form of electrification.

Thanks for the info, but I was more interested in the changeover that will be taking place sometime in the next week or so.

Interesting - what do you believe Network rail will be taking over then, seeing as LUL are still operating a train service for few more months yet?

aetearlscourt said that Metronet will no longer be responsible for maintaining the line in April 2007.

AIUI, the line will remain in LU/Metronet control until closure in December 2007. Then the contractors take over for the upgrade, conversion to 3rd rail, NR signalling etc. Public opening is stated to be June 2010. The line between Dalston Junc and NX/NXG will be in LU operational control but with NR equipment. LU will have to find a maintenance contractor to look after it. The new operational control centre at NXG will be LU manned. The depot will be run by Bombardier as train maintainer. Trains will be run by a new franchisee appointed by TfL - Govia and Laing/MTR are on the short list. They will take over the Silverlink Richmond, Watford, GOB and Clap. Jc services. as well as the extended ELL when it opens We should know who it will be by the end of May.
