Ety 4 car A stock ran eastbound at about 1330 through KX as a not in service train.
What surprised me was the train was pretty grubby and hadnt had the benefit of a wash - as it was off for a stint on the ELL I would have throught an external clean would have been inorder as I assume its a good unit off depot mtc.
How long are they usually away from mother Neasden - and do they hand clean at New Cross if Neasden dont do the honours ?
Still a working triain is what matters I suppose....

Well, Metronet are probably short of 4 Cars as they usually do well for external cleaning. I think they are away at New X for about 13 days before going back to Neasden. Will ask when I'm next about. Or of course, there are days when all of the booked stock moves (3 in each direction) are made up of 8 cars. That would only be on a day when the entire fleet is changed over.
There have been days when they appear to be sent more trains than we get back. My nights the other week saw 2 mornings where the stock went down and they never returned any during the day! Methinks they have a secret hiding place for train-napped A-stocks ;D

At the end of the year it will be just memories when the EL is closed.

Maybe the clean ones go to Amersham. There's been a unit trundling up and down the ELL for months now with PAFC scrawled in the grime by the 'A' end cab door.
