Here's one of the images I managed to capture of the works yesterday (22/12/07) - it was taken with more luck than judgment by holding my camera up the the railings adjacent to the former LU station: In total I took 481 images yesterday (Shoreditch & the now closed ELL line) , which I'm going through at the moment and I'll upload to my home page in the next few days

That's two of the running lines into Liverpool Street, and it looks like they've been prepared to protect them from the demolition works of Bridge GE19 bridge (which I believe is the bridge in the background). The OHLE wires appear to have been removed and the running lines have been covered up, presumably to protect them from falling debris, and I guess so as to assist on clearing that debris.

Having travelled into and out of Liverpool Street this morning/evening (now that its open again ) much of what you see in the photo above is now history - certainly the metalwork and brickwork of the bridge anyway that leads to the former Bishopsgate Goods Yard. It really did look most odd. On the way home this evening (looking into the darkness from a train with particularly bright lighting in it) I'm pretty sure that the gable end of the former ELL Shoreditch station still survives. Many sections of track have been replaced between here and Stratford and it looks like all the 4 roads have had new track laid where the bridge has bee removed.
