Will the ELL Connect infrastructure be retained and rolled out across the entire ELLX, and maybe the entire TfL-controlled London Rail network?

I would have thought it would switch to using Network Rail's cab secure system - although there's obviously a certain amount of Connect infrastucture in place, I can't see why they'd retain it and be the 'odd one out'.

If that's the case it seems like a bit of a waste to have ever installed Connect on the ELL in the first place.

The Connect contract was written many years before the closure of the ELL amongst other decisions. Therefore the equipment will be installed, regardless of how long the equipment will be in use, if at all. Shoreditch is a good example, Connect equipment was installed there and never used.
Someone told me a similar story, back when I was on the RED line, of the contractors installing connect equipment in areas of White City depot that were being demolished. The way it was described to me was there was something similar to a conveyor belt thing. Someone putting the connect stuff in, someone then takes it out and then someone demolishes the wall....

COLIN:
They've been planning on replacing Network Rail's ageing Cab Secure Radio and National Radio Network communications systems for ages, with a digital system like connect...
