Hi all.
Not that long ago I constructed a tube map including the infamous tube lines sponsored by Morgan, the information for it coming from a book "London's Lost Tube Schemes". Now, whilst a fantastic book, to my consternation it only covered the early (private) tube boom before WWI.
My first question is does anyone know of a book that covers proposals since then, including the New Works programme and the County of London Plan?
I am interested because I intend on drawing a map of all authorised lines, or rather what the powers of authorisation resulted in. The Fleet Line is a prime example. Whilst I know that there were three phases, and the final phase was never really decided on, I don't know if anything apart from phase one was decided on. So if anyone can help me with that I would be grateful.
Many thanks in advance.

If this helps, some experimental tunnelling was dug at New Cross, only about 300 yards, but used a new tunnelling method, called Bentonite. I think it involved spraying concrete directly onto the bored tunnel. The access shaft was next to the NR tracks, this has been capped over, but the area is still fenced off with a hexagonal shaped enclosure...

Wasn't the 3rd phase of the Fleet Line to take over the ELL and run out to either Orpington or Hayes(Kent)?

My first question is does anyone know of a book that covers proposals since then, including the New Works programme and the County of London Plan? Hello Ben For what it's worth I agree with you - London's Lost Tube Schemes looked to be the book that I had spent years waiting for, only to be slightly disappointed when it was finally published that it didn't cover proposals from the New Works programmes and after as you describe. There would seem to be a gap in the market for such a book - unless anyone knows of one that does justice to the subject? I'd be very grateful to hear of such a publication if there was one... In any case, I look forward to seeing your map(s) when complete - please keep us posted! THC
