Hi folks,
I'm new on this forum and have a Victoria Line Question for you.
Why is there a short (~18") lump of wood in the central conductor rail at the North end of the Northbound Platform at Victoria? It doesn't appear to be for isolation purposes as the gap it creates is bridge by cables.
Many thanks in advance
James

I've noticed similar things at other stations where there's a gap in conductor rail with a wire across it, though without the piece of wood. Oxford Circus Bakerloo is one of them I think. Any idea what these are for?

The one at Oxford Circus SB Bakerloo is an old trainstop gap. IIRC it was 382DV
There are similar gaps to Victoria at Brixton as well, for the same reason.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Reminds of the front page story that the Evening subStandard put out a few years back, slagging off LUL for poor maintenance - yet another classic where they failed to check their facts ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Why let facts get in the way of a story? The chances are most ES readership will see it the once and take it as 100% correct. I also recall that the ES were inviting the public to take more pictures of "unsafe practices" in exchange for a cash reward.
