Are there any pics of the now sadly abandoned Space Train project model/computer generated graphics for the Victoria line? It was really a great idea.

I have two photos of the mock up model on my flickr site:- www.flickr.com/photos/stephenk1977/108328170/www.flickr.com/photos/stephenk1977/108328169/It is a shame the project was abandoned, as the concept had a lot of benefits. As far as I know PPP put an end to this project. Low floor tram bogie technology which has matured in the last few years could be utilised in any future similar articulating car projects, keeping the development costs lower.

Actually I think the sections were short enough to permit one bogie per section. That would save even more. Still, the concept was one to admire.

The approx 11m long cars were articulated, as the adjacent car ends shared a bogie. Each bogie contained 6 wheels, except for the leading and trailing bogies which had 4 wheels.

Nice. The overall concept was marvelous. It was silly to scrap it. I heard the wheels were rather small.

I heard the wheels were rather small. Have a look at stephenk's 2nd link above - it shows them quite clearly

Indeed. Perhaps they are excessively small?

Indeed. Perhaps they are excessively small? Small wheels (circa 500-600mm diameter) are now commonly found on low floor trams which can travel at similar speeds to tube trains. So I would not say they are excessively small.
