I have a question about the Ian Allan ABC's that covered the London Underground. How often did these come out? I ask as I know of the following issues, 1954, 1957, 1960, 1963, 1969, 1978. Based on this it seems that they came out every three years. Is this correct? I also ask as I am trying to track down some info on the Q stock around 1964-1966, when the Q23 stock was retired.

I think you're nearly right about the dates of IA - I've still got 4 of those: 1954, 1957, 1959, 1960. They sometimes come up on eBay.
And don't forget that the first of the 'London Underground Rolling Stock' books by Brian Hardy came out around the mid-1960s I believe. Not sure when though. They come up more often.

I have the pleasure of working by indirect means for IA...my job was approved at the IA Board Level. I dare say that the IA Library, possibly in Shepperton or possibly Heysham, have copies.

If it's of interest, I've a copy of "The ABC Of London Transport Services" by Barrington Tatford dated 1944.
Being a wartime publication when paper was rationed it's a bit limited on the railways side. All the mention is of locomotives. There's nothing about EMUs or loco hauled coaching stock.

Thanks guys for the info! I did some digging, and some buying, and now have the 1954, 1959, and 1969 IA, with a 1963 on the way to me. The others I know of are 1944, 1957, 1960, and 1978. I just missed both a 1957 and 1960 issue! Pity the 1944 has no info on the EMU's, as there were some interesting stuff running around.

I have been able to track down a few more, There are 1944, 1950, 1951, 1954, 1957, 1959, 160, 1963, 1966, 1969, and 1978 (that I know off.) I have been able to get 1950, 1954, 1959, 1963, 1966, and 1969, (all thanks to ebay). Anybody know of anymore? As for Brian Hardy's books I belive the first one was in 1976.
