Apoligies if this has been asked anywhere else, but with the 09TS coming onto the Victoria Line, will the linespeeds be raised? Even a few miles an hour will make things a lot quicker. I can imagine these new trains being very quick, so think it'ld be good to make use of that fact!
I know this could live in the new trains board, but it's a general question about the line, with headways and end - to - end journey times being discussed.

I believe the line's top speed is 55mph, but for some reason I have got it into my head that the signalling system may only allow a top speed of 47mph.
I believe the 1967TS are supposed to be capable of 55mph, and every passenger-certified crossover on the line is supposed to be capable of being traversed at 50mph.

What is the Central's line speed in open sections? We certainly motored on the Auto Tube Rambler of 1980 from Ealing Broadway.

Mind you will the 09's have the Central Line type signalling and ATO, if so, the 55mph may be achievable. As for crossovers at 50mph, that's certainly impressive. The Vic line is a very quick line to use as it is at the moment, with these improvements residents of North/South London will have a teleport like service into Central London.

And the top speed is 50-55mph, IIRC - before the Chancery Lane derailment the 1992TS were permitted to reach 62mph in normal service, but this is no longer permitted due to high G forces on the traction motor anchoring points.

Actually thinking about it the 92's do around 80kph top whack - so, as you say around the 50mph mark. The target speed on open sections does still go all the way up to 100kph, but as you've said, they don't do these speeds anymore.

Was 100kph (62mph) permitted from Theydon Bois to Epping? The 92 stock seems to really motor along that section. Any idea of the current speed limit there?

The 92TS was restricted to 80km/h after Chancery Lane because the gearboxes couldn't take the speed for which they were designed. I think TheOneKEA mentioned something similar. Referring back to the comments about the current Vic Line top speed, it is 47.5mph IIRC. This is the limit set by the ATO system. Not all crossovers allow 50mph. If you are reversing at Warren Street you get a 270 code when starting wrong road. This limits the top speed to 23.5mph I think. Didn't someone tell us that in an earlier thread?

It's really strange at Newbury Park, as you leave the platform for the loop there in CM, the target speed drops down to zero but nothing happens whatsoever, you can carry on as normal...
