How does the train op. tell the control system on the vic that they are ready to depart at terinus stations?
I was at Brixton last week and couldn't see how it was done. The step back driver would get in, then the train would be away a minute or so later. Is there some sort of 'train ready to depart' plunger on the platform?
Thanks

I may well be corrected here, but I think at Brixton the train is either given the green signal when the timetabled departure time has come up, or if trains are running late, as soon as the route through the crossover and beyond is clear. This seems to be approx 85-95secs for a NB platform departure after a SB platform departure (non-conflicting move), or 97secs for a train in the SB platform waiting for the crossover to clear after a NB departure and subsequent arrival (conflicting move). Green signal to actual departure time (door closing) is usually approx 15secs.
I don't think there is a departure plunger, but there is a rear cab clear plunger/bell. Whether this is attached to the signalling system, I don't know. I think I have seen a camera pointing towards the cab at Brixton (or maybe it was Victoria?), maybe this is just looking at the destination on the cab for if Identra is playing up.
The Victoria line runs 28.5tph, which is a train approx every 126secs, thus I would assume with LU's rather crude timetabling that trains are timetabled every 2, 2, 2, 2.5mins. With my observations above, trains can often be seen departing Brixton every 105-115secs (31-33tph) for short periods during rush hours, which the rest of the line may not be able to sustain for long periods.
