So , for those who didn't see it, Billy Connolly was visiting the various sights aroung London, one of these was Down Street tube station where Winston Churchill resided during the Blitz. He was showing around the cramped conditions with the odd rumble of a picc train going past, however I was not expecting the following!
Billy went onto the old platform, knowing a train would pass, he was given an official LU lamp (red light and green light) he held the red light out and the approaching train stopped for him to board, he entered through the T/op's door and said hello to his fellow punters, he got off at Green Park, to which he remembered he hadn't bought a ticket (Good job he was wearing a TfL hi-vis jacket!)
Thought that may interest some of you.

As there are no ticket issuing facilities at Down Street (at least as far as I know) he would have had a hard time buying a ticket even if he tried. I doubt the machines/computers at Green Park would have been able to issue him with one either!

I'm sure someone somewhere has got a ticket from Down Street to Dover Street... ;D 3s/6d? or is 2d a more acceptable fare nowadays? Cheers, ~ Matloughe

well the one time that I've had an unresolved journey on my Oyster (I thought I'd swiped in fine, but obviously the machine didn't think so) the (very bored looking) person in the ticket office at Surrey Quays didn't ask me where I'd come from (only NXG but it could have been Chesham).

So, what happened, were you charged the minimum fare?
