LUL is taking over control of all stations between Queen's Pk and Harrow & Wealdstone,except Willesden Junction,from November 2007,they're also taking control of the Silverlink platforms at Blackhorse Rd,Highbury & Islington and West Brompton.

Why not Willesden Junction? All the trains which call there are Silverlink Metro.

Not sure why Willesden Junction has been omitted from this Chris, i found it rather interesting that LU / TfL didnt take over either. They might have done something to the messroom on platforms 4/5. Ive heard that the station staff are glad that TfL have taken over the stations as well. There salary has increased nearly double to what they earning on Silverlink. £22,000 as opossed to £12,500. I am so unhappy at Silverlink that ive put in for a a job on London Underground even before TfL take over us. keithy

I suspect that Willesden Junction remains with LO because of the high-level NLL services and the potential for WCML slow line platforms.

they took the mainline platforms away in the early 70's to allow a greater line speed... talk about full circle!

BUMP.
Does anyone know if Harrow and Wealdstone will really be controlled entirely by LU? I would have thought that LU would merely take over responsibility for the DC line platforms, leaving the rest of the station to be managed by Silverlink.
For that matter, I am surprised that H&W will be taken over at all - surely it would be better for a major stop on the Silverlink County services to remain with Silverlink (or its successor). If it works at Richmond, Wimbledon, Barking and Upminster, why not H&W?

Silverlink is being split between London Overground (Metro services) and the new West Midlands franchise (County services). Since the main focus of WM will be former Central Train routes around Birmingham, having them run a suburban London station would be odd. Therefore it's going to LO, and the transfer from there to LU is really just an internal TfL matter.

Ahhhhhhhh. Now I understand - it makes much more sense when explained in that manner.
It makes you wonder though if the Bakerloo stations will be refurbished and rebranded as LU stations or as LO stations.

Harrow & Wealdstone will be an LU station (at least on the Bakerloos side, don't know about the fast side?).
The date LU take over is 11 November and the new stations group will be called Wembley Central.
This is according to a vacancy on the TfL Intranet!

There are rather a lot of engineering types hanging around the platforms lately which prompts this question. Station staff mentioned that LUL were having to pay to create station plans because none were in existence and hence the excessive measuring up.
Surely that can't be true?

It is most plausible - you couldn't make it up could you!!
In any case, LUL has a corporate standard which all stations must adhere to - this includes everything from signage, posters, leaflet racks through to gateline set up, etc.
They also have to have a copy of the station layout plans in a box for the fire brigade and a station management/evacuation plan.
If you think about it, it actually makes sense for LUL to get the exact information they need, rather than trying to gleen it from anything that may, if at all, exist.

Good grief, it beggars belief! I know there were issues getting an evacuation plan sorted because there was no data available - took YEARS apparently. Turns out we might need to evacuate fast cos the engineers have been picking fights with some drivers.
