I was just looking at some photos by Greg Beecroft on the main site. Have the sidings at Stanmore always been their, I worked the Bakerloo for a while in the early seventies and cannot recall them at all. Where are they situated in relation to the station. The only places IRC stabling was at Elephant, London Rd, Queens Pk and Neasden. Has me memory gone kaput or what

Yep they have been there for decades, they were re modled in the late 70's I believe adding an extra siding, perhaps someone has a bit more on that. I have seen a photo online of the sidings with 38 stock trains, when it was part of the Bakerloo.

They've been there since Stanmore opened in the early 30's.Were shut in mid 70's for a couple of years for remodelling.

Not quite, towerman - it was originally a goods yard, closed in 1936 after poor receipts. I think part of the old goods yard became a carpark while the rest became the seven sidings that are now 10 and a shunt neck.
(This is from the DEV, BTW).

The yellow peril for the recommissioning of the sidings after remodelling was dated Sunday 27th June 1976. I have no details, but I should imagine that the original stabling sidings were brought into use concurrent with the opening of Stanmore signal cabin circa May 1938. Prior to that the signalling at Stanmore was controlled from Wembley Park.

Thanks for all your input, I still can't picture them. Guess I'll have to ride the jubbly out that way next time I'm home.

The site www.getmapping.com is a brilliant source of aerial pictures (and useful for getting nightmare jigsaw puzzles as gifts). If you go to the site and type in the post code HA7 4PD (the post code for Stanmore Station), you should get a pretty good idea of the sidings.
