No trouble at all, our room there has air con Until you venture out into the corridoor. Have Metromess run out of water? They don't appear to be given it out at Baker St anymore

Have Metromess run out of water? They don't appear to be given it out at Baker St anymore Not so much them running out of water; it's Metronet running out of volunteers willing to stand around with fake smiles and the red propaganda t-shirts.

After spending a day in air conditioned comfort, I decided for to go for a little trip along one of the worlds longest and hottest tunnels down to sunny Morden to take some photos. The tube wasn't as hot as what I was expecting, although standing by the car end window helps!

I don't think LU does enough in terms of publicising what it actually intends to do with regards to air conditioning on the tube. And keeping updated on the progress of various schemes or ideas.
All of us know that its not something LU can wave a magic wand at or has the massive money to fix - but the average commuter would not appreciate that when they are travelling in oppressive condition. Reading the press and letters, there is plenty of criticism directed at the LU about why this serious problem hasn't been resolved by now (asking why that magic wand hasn't been waved). And this feeds through to abuse to our operational colleagues, which of course is more common with the short tempers in the boiling heat.

Yes, well, why can't the tube lines have cooled tunnels and have trains with openings?

TTheres one way to avoid the heat, is to NOT think about it... Just think of Alaska, or in my case, Snowboarding!

Admin comment: Folks, the chat board was created so that "small talk" & "personal chit chat" could happen without clogging up the main railway boards. We now seem to be wandering back towards personal conversations in the main boards again - can we please keep this stuff to a minimum outside the chat threads.
Thanks in advance.

No trouble at all, our room there has air con Until you venture out into the corridoor. Or round to our room (record temperature stands at 93F near one of our desks last summer. I haven't been in a position to measure it this year, the thermometer having melted last year). At the risk of being "chatty" I've just returned after a couple of weeks off, and thankfully it's a little cooler today - the first day I've worn full-length trousers and shoes since my holiday began. No help in having to walk from King's Cross to Baker Street after a major power failure knocked out half of the central area.
