Pardon me for being curious, but does anyone have any more info on this?
DISTRICT LINE: Minor delays are occurring due to an earlier faulty train at Barking and an earlier customer incident at St.James's Park.

Do we need a thread for every delay? He did say "Pardon me for being curious". Plus i'm quite interested to know as well about the workings of everyday LU life.

Do we need a thread for every delay? Well, no, but I was just curious. Point noted.

5 replies and we are still no nearer to ascertaining what the origin of the problem was, in causing the delectable District to experience delays to its operation. Was it perchance, a person inebriated by consuming vast quantities of an alcoholic beverage, resulting in his swift removal from the platforms and its immediate environs, or was he ejected from the afforementioned property and spiritied away in a police vehicle to a different locality. ;D

I heard there was a small delay at St. James Park E/B with a passenger alarm, don't know the details but I didn't think that went on long enough to make much difference. The sick train at Barking W/B caused the major problems - I've heard it was a mainline burst, train was taken (slowly) to East Ham then reversed there and on to Barking Sidings. I was at Upminster when it happened and I lost 40 minutes getting to Earls Court, mainly because they insisted on sending all the trains west to form a huge queue! (edit: typo)

You weren't joking when you said that train was taken into East Ham slowly. I was standing there on Platform 1 wondering whether the damn thing would even make it in there. Cue the curiosity and 'Ooooh. It's a SPECIAL train!' when the passengers see the destination blind.

If it was a mainline burst the motors would be fighting the spring applied parking brakes.

Joe S, if you read LURS Underground News in a few months time it will probably mention what caused the delay.

Yeah its very good in that respect, or I can check the station log book, but not being on the Northern, might not be in it. If a certain ss was on, then it is, prob writes that I went to the toilet! ;D
