Job seemed to well up he wall this am with trains reversing west to east at 0900 ish at Farringdon !
Very rare incidences of "Farringdon" on blinds - must have been desperate to do such a move in the busy hours.
Presume they drew forward towards KX , changed end and went back on the main to main crossover at the west end of the station.

Yes, main line shunt west of the station. They can also reverse east to west in the outer rail platform. However, I have always found it odd that Farringdon sidings can only be accessed from the inner rail.

Yes, it's quite a long, drawn out process to get a train into Farringdon sidings from the outer rail - as one of the drivers demonstrated under the framework agreement a few years ago! ;-)

A good opportunity to ask something I've always wondered - what's meant by the inner and outer rail of the circle line - I'm dying to be enlightened!

IIRC Inner Rail is anti clockwise services, Outer Rail is clockwise. (Unless of course one has a left handed clock ).

IIRC Inner Rail is anti clockwise services, Outer Rail is clockwise. That is correct. The Circle line would be difficult to describe as north/south/east/westbound!

Well Farringdon sidings won't be a problem for too much longer....

This is very true. Where are they going to keep all those shiny new trains? I guess we'll have to be road trained to at least Neasden to go and get them which sounds good to me...

S's could of course be kept at South Harrow sidings...

I think that will be a problem. Firstly, no doubt an enlarged Picc fleet might want it and secondly, aren't there a number speed restrictions under the bridges on the route. It does beg the question where the 7 car S stocks can be kept!
Some places are of course: Upminster, Ealing Common, Parsons Green, Moorgate (plats 5-6), Barking, Neasden (a few).
Some no-go sidings: (most of) Hammersmith (unless rebuilt), Farringdon, Triangle, Edgware Road, (parts of) Parsons Green.
Any comments or ideas?

To add to the list (although not a siding): Putney Bridge bay platform.

Well the rebuilt Neasden depot will be able to hold many more trains, MRSSL did have a figure about somewhere. Plus in the future Hammersmith depot will just become a stabling point - well the last time heard!

Also there will be less Jubilee trains at Neasden when the line upgrade is finished,Stanmore Sdgs is going to be almost doubled in size,so there will be more room for "S" stock.

The blokes at the Depot in Acton told me it would be smaller-but of course the 96ts is being chucked out!

They can send us to Ricky to get trains if they want... I wouldn't mind!

If they want to keep anything in South Harrow sidings with a mind to actually use it at some point after, they'll need to employ a crack team of security guards. Most probably armed aswell.
Out of interest, will Farringdon's crossover be relocated further upon resignalling of the area? Seems that having trains shunt all around it is time consuming.

I expect it will be relocated............to a scrapyard. 7 car trains won't be able to use it to reverse onto the inner rail, and the sidings will be removed!
