Does anyone know if the far end of Paddington station will be cleaned up somewhat? The removal of the old bridge has left the covered footbridge and other infrastructure in a very sorry state.

It is in quite a state compared to the rest of the station...

Given the money going into the redevelopment around that end of Paddington station, it would be nice if LU or NR could spend a little bit of money in building a more attractive footbridge.

At the very least, providing a western exit to the suburban station platforms (13-16), connecting to the new footbridge linking to the third trainshed, would not only serve the canal area and the buildings there, but with appropriate signage and maybe a few bus diversions, could significantly relieve the primary entrances and exits of Paddington.

As Bishops' Bridge (the Paddington Bridge Project, to give it its official name) is due to re-open in June - only six months late by my reckoning, but perhaps that's not too bad when you recall they found a Brunel original underneath the "old" bridge - I asked dear old Transport for London what bus services they proposed to run over it. The answer appears to be only one - the 46 will be extended from Warwick Avenue to Lancaster Gate via the new bridge and Eastbourne Terrace. This happens to suit me, but I'm not sure how many of Paddington's commuters hail from Hampstead or St John's Wood - or even if there will be a bus stop on the bridge itself...
