Is the BTB C stock ever going to return to normal? Or is the C stock fleet still too touchy to take three units out of service for the length of time needed for Acton to strip the vinyls?

I don't know why it has to go to Acton, the Jubilee BTB train was restored to normal at SMD in a day.

Really? Considering how tatty the BTB C stock is I thought they would send it to Acton to allow the paint folks there to touch it up if need be.

Bearing in mind that at least two C stock cars (units effectively) were involved in the 7/7 atrocity - and are still away at a military base in connection with police wishes, stock shortage is the very answer. I should think the best opportunity to de-flower it will be between christmas and new year (when we run a slightly reduced service on the weekdays).

Until the C stock fleet is back to normal, i dont see this train going back to corporate livery. The train has to be repainted at TMU acton, as it had its livery applied differently to the 96ts, which was easier to remove.

If they're stickers, can't someone at the depot overnight peel them off?

Why were they done differently? I presume that someone has done a cost-benefit analysis of whether its best to use paint or vinyls for the planned duration. I'm surpsied that they came out as different. I can't see that they would designed to last a different amount of time, or that the stocks would spend significantly different amounts of time in tunnels/outdoors. The only thing that come to mind is that the trains would have a different surface area, but I'd be suprised if they were massively different?

Out of the two C stocks damaged in the 7th July bombings, presumably there would be enough good units to form one train? Or are all the units involved still with the police?
I've seen other C stocks in standard livery looking very tatty, with paint on the doors in particular worn down to bare metal.

I suspect the reason they look so tatty is because of the amount of graffiti that has to removed. The C's seem to be 'attacked' more than any other stock in this respect.

If the C stocks that were involved in 7/7 couldn't be rebuilt would LU be able to order new cars? If not what would be done to top the C stock fleet up?

As the SSL is due to have new stock in a few years, no new C stock is likely to be built, as the cost of building a hand full of cars will be very costly ;D

Oh the problems with all these boards!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D Citysig is quite right, and NONE of the staff spotted it but to be fair in this case it COULD have gone in either category (and obviously did!) Score: citysig 1, staff 0

I see there is a C stock move from Hammersmith to Acton Works next Monday, maybe it's the BTB train going in to have normal LUL livery reapplied.

The Back The Bid DLR train still has the colours, but none of writing. It thus looks rather odd!

I forgot to pick up this thread earlier, yes the BTB C Stock did indeed go into Acton Works on 9 January for repainting. The date i have for it's return is tomorrow, 2 February.

I believe it's now due to return to Hammersmith on the 10th February. Yep, indeed it did! As I saw it today at 10.52 ECt EB heading to Edgware Road. (At least I'm assuming it WAS the ex-BTB one as it was freshly painted but didn't have ANY car numbers at all!).

When I saw it on Friday, at Whitechapel it was finished, car numbers as well but was being tested out of service. It should be back in service soon. It was very spangly.
