Just noticed something on the TfL website. Anyone got any ideas why Neasden seems to have appeared on the Met's list of departure boards? Click HERE and look in the dropdown menu.

if you go to the Bakerloo departure boards it describes the Silverlink trains as "BR to Euston".

I was on an LU Tube platform the other day and an auto announcement linked to the Dot Matrix was saying when the next train was!!!

they have that at Angel now, it's very irritating, especially as you can hear the other platforms very clearly too. They also anounce that you are on the Northern Line too

Angel is annoying, yes Rob! However go to an open section station, Finchley Central is a great example, and the announcements on different platforms play simultaneously, which sounds odd to say the least. These announcements are primarily for visually impaired people, but I think it will just confuse them, even though most are very savvy.

At Sydney's Central station, it is not unusual for the station staff to simultaneously play announcements relating to the lines on either side of the platform. Not exactly helpful....

At Flinders Street the PA speakers are put above the platfrom. It is not uncommon for 2 or 3 trains to arrive at the same time with the announcement being played for that platfrom side. You can hear other platfroms but rather softly. Regardless if the entire station has trains in it or not it's relatively the same.
Southern Cross on the other hand. The bloke who announces the Suburban platfroms does a good job till someone decided to play the announcement for a VLine train.

I remember in training one woman who could not get anything right. She never studied and was always just barely passing the progress checks. From her questions in class it was clear that she didn't understand a lot and the trainer several times expressed serious concerns that she wasn't getting the basics. Come the final exam and she got 100% Some people just learn differently I guess.

Speaking of departure boards, when reference is made to a train being at or near Ruislip Manor, why is it spelled "Ruilsip Manor"

Speaking of departure boards, when reference is made to a train being at or near Ruislip Manor, why is it spelled "Ruilsip Manor" Well now... 3 guesses do you? Ok 1.) Ruilsip Manor is close to Ruislip Manor - the two locations are very separate and should not be confused. 2.) The software used is Windows 1.2, and if you type the word correctly it immediately goes to a blue screen of death 3.) Come on, give the bloke (or indeed lady) who typed it all a break. Clearly somewhere in the depths of the code written to show all this, they got a couple of letters the wrong way around so people could point out the mistakes. As for the information given on some of the departure boards - in particular the Met and Circle ones. I am in dealings with a project to streamline them so that they can be more useful within a station environment - rather than just on t'interweb. Some of you who use the system regularly may have noticed that at certain locations (e.g. Baker Street Met) they can be more useful / predict slightly better, than the system we currently use.

Once there was this guy shouting over the PA about some train while the DVA, being softer, could hardly be heard.

As if it'd be any other line. *grumble!*
