A hear from relaible sources that a few special non-pax movements will or might (or did - ) operate on the branch sometime soon. A few proposed workings with 'c's and a 'd'. Anyone know any details about this? My school backs onto the track at Ickenham so Ive been trying to keep a lookout during the daytime, but alas no luck yet!

I would be very surprised if there were actual passenger services operated along the Uxbridge branch using C stock or D stock.

Some years ago, as detailed on this forum, a Class 25 was trialled on the branch. The idea was that they would be acquired from BR for p/way work but they were knackered and BR wanted too many £££ for them.

That'd be very interesting, are there any Gauging issues on the branch, I understood that the trackbed has been raised over the years to cater for the little blue trains.

Guilty as charged Dave! 8 years man and boy...I need to escape!! Referring to a wildly out of date Appendix 11 to the Rule Book, everything is cleared on the Met north of Baker Street. I'm not sure why theyre running, but its deff not passenger, so I can only assume theyre going to Ruislip depot for some reason.

Surely if A Stock fits, C and D Stock will fit likewise or am I being obtuse? D stock has longer cars than A stock, so there could be an issue with some of the curves, as the ends will "throw" more.

Quite right adw, the consequence of a straight carriage being forced round a curve is that the ends and centre of the carriage will overhang more than on straight track. As track radius decreases and curvature increases centre throw and end throw get worse. Centre throw being dependent on the distance between bogie centres will overhang on the inside of curve and end throw being dependent on car length overhangs on the outside.
To my knowledge, civils work to the structure gauge diagrams which there are only two generic types for sub-surface and tube stock.

The only section of line to change much since the metroliner tour is probably the area around Hillingdon station, what with the new bridge, slightly changed curves and different station location.

Perhaps they're testing for the vastly over rumoured possibility of the District reclaiming the route from Ealing Common to Uxbridge.

Greetings !!
indeed there was a Timetable Notice issued for some test runs from Ealing Common to Uxbridge, 3 trips on weekends and 4 during the week, listed as " A, C or D Stock " Think it was brake testing, would have been good to see a D Stock on the branch, I Have some pics of C stock passing Ickenham on similar business a few years ago ( as published in Underground News )

I got a (lucky) shot of some C Stock at Ruislip 0n 17March07: mainline.fotopic.net/p39515369.htmlIt was the same day that engineers trains were runing from the northern end of the Piccadilly to Ruislip, so quite an eventful day.

I like your photos. That looks like a good location at Ruislip; which is one of my favourite stations. I'll have to have a look on Google Earth to see the exact location. Cheers

Cheers! It's easy to get to, literally turn left out of the station up some stairs and you're on the bridge. The good thing about Ruislip is the old signalbox (but not in use).

The good thing about Ruislip is the old signalbox (but not in use). With the levers still in situ, a couple of which are reversed.
