As Moor Park is the station to change for Watford and if the Croxley Link goes ahead Watford Junction, would it be an idea for Chiltern services to stop at Moor Park?

I wouldn't think so, with Harrow-On-The-Hill chiltern are better off stopping there for passengers travelling to all alternate destinations on the Met (Except Amersham which Chiltern would go to obviously).

Chiltern services though do stop at all stations from Rickmansworth to Amersham. I was thinking about people wanting to go from Ayelsbury to Watford, they would need to change at a station from Amersham to Rickmansworth to get a Met service to Moor Park and then change there for the Met to Watford.

Fair point there. Depends on the demand at the end of the day I suppose. At the moment just being Watford I can't see there being a huge demand... however if the Croxley does go ahead with Watford Junction I can see demand potential.

The reason why Chiltern Trains do not stop at Moor Park is because the station lies in private ground and when the station was built, the locals stated that they were not permitted to stop there as they make a loud noise when they depart. Obviously if the Met is suspended, as it was yesterday, they do then additionally stop there, however they then need someone to give the second right, as the mirrors on the platforms do not conform to NR standars, even though they are of the same variety as the mirrors at Chalfont!

I've read this about four times and I still can't quite grasp its meaning. The original Moor Park station was built in the 1880s, in the days of steam engines. It was rebuilt in the 1960s, after local trains had been replaced with DMUs. Are you referring to this? Until some time in the very late 1980s or 1990s, the majority of Network South East services operating on the Aylesbury line to/ from Marylebone stopped at Moor Park. I cannot find any reference as to why the service stopped and apologise for the total vagueness of the timing. Oh happy memories of late-night tunnel running between the slow and fast platforms to get back to the Harrow area!

The reason why Chiltern Trains do not stop at Moor Park is because the station lies in private ground and when the station was built, the locals stated that they were not permitted to stop there as they make a loud noise when they depart. I'm fairly sure it is nothing whatsoever to do with this and was mostly due to a lack of interest in serving the station on the part of Network Southeast that lead to the withdrawal of the DMU calls at Moor Park at the end of the 1980s. I do recall hearing the story of the Rickmansworth Technical Officer, just after the DMU service at Moor Park was withdrawn, who was called to a failure at Watford. He leapt abord the first southbound train at Rickmansworth which happened to be a DMU, intending to change at Moor Park, but he had forgotten that these trains no longer called there. It should also be noted that at the time of the two trains per hour between Marylebone and Aylesbury via Amersham, only one each way called at Harrow. Therefore about half an hour after the Technical Officer had left Rickmansworth, the Rickmansworth signalman received a phone call from him asking if the failure was still on at Watford and if so the Technical Officer would be on the next Watford train from Baker Street.
