This may have come up before, I did do a search but couldn't find anything.
What dictates the placement of whistle boards? After watching a number of LU DEVs I haven't managed to see a pattern.

between Ongar and Epping the onlyone Levelcrossing - is now closed!
the other Whistleboards - i thing when the Track is in a curve to warning Animals and Birds or Track Maintenance Working People!

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

Whistle boards are placed where there is insufficient sighting time for train drivers to be able to see personnel on the track (and vice versa). This may be due to curvature of track, trackside structures, or the general geography of the area.
