Looks like TfL are getting themselfs confused over the East London Railway (ELR) with there own staff. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7153570.stmJulie Dixon from TfL said: "This work is vital to the completion of the East London Line." - Er isn't it the completion of the ELR? Or is the works still offically part of extending the ELL even tho no Tube train will ever use the route again now?

It will be known as the "East London Railway" when it re-opens..........I suspect it's just a typical media misunderstanding/failure to get the facts right.

It is indeed officially called the East London Railway, but the project was - for a very long time and until quite recently - known as the East London Line Extension project, and that is certainly the name that many people will know it by and many will still be using. Certainly an awful lot more people will know what the East London Line Extension means than the East London Railway - hence any confusion. Does it really matter that much though? Also, bear in mind that when it opens, it will be branded as being another part of the existing London Overground network (rather than the East London Railway). That said, on London Overground engineering works posters they do use the traditional terms 'North London Line' and 'West London Line' - so perhaps the name 'East London Line' will make a comeback like this as well!

Maybe in 2010 they will drop the line bits for the railway to make it easiler for customers. I half expect the dual Highbury to Islington to stay on the map so as not to confuse people.
