Although FCC are taking a small number of 313s they will only be for the northern city branch where 6 cars are all the underground platfroms can take, they are having lots of 321s off us (London Midland) when our extra 350s are all in service next year.

If FCC take about 9 x 3 car sets - that leaves about 14 x 3 "spare" - just right for some infill electrification "somewhere in the UK" (get a few more years out of them with luck)
313001 (now 313101) was the 1st dual voltage emu in the UK and therefore may qualify for the NRM York if they want it !

I personally think Merseyrail will be interested in them, they would need no modification to work with the 507/508s and would relieve massive overcrowding on the Liverpool suburban services.

I'd like to think they will go up north! I hate to see a good train get the chop!

Well they would need major work to be up to the high interior standards of Merseyrails 507/508s but there is no reason they couldnt be used there, ME certainly have no plans to replace thier 507/508s any time soon!!!!
Ive travelled on the ME network peak and off peak times and believe me they could do with extra capacity!!!!

313's would be very much home at Merseyside - with options for using the DC from Hunts Cross if the CLC were electrified on 25kv - as a stop gap of course ! Ideas being bounced around at the moment

like metman I hope they all get sent off for other uses, but they need ALOT of maintenance first to justify the terrible state they are in now. NRM will probably take one since they are proper br trains and they were built in york to
