Having recently seen a pic of a conceptualisation of the new stock, I notice in the roof the new line diagram of the network too. Anyone have a pdf or suchlike?

Im afraid not, the best I could get myself is some of the gear from the musuem and photograph it. The pics on my flickr are from a folder or a bookmark! Worked tho!
If I do manage to get a pdf I'll update you on it.

Interesting page you have there, hcbeck - "a classic that has lost its way" - very true IMHO (see some of my comments in previous threads).
I like the way you put the Overground into your full tube map as well - it looks a loss less meandering that the official version! (Also the Central line straight all the way from Ealing to Liverpool St, and the W&C as a straight line are improvements.)

I enjoyed looking at your designs mate. I especially liked the idea of the termini being in block colour on the map. It gives the whole thing a far more understandable look. Did I notice a few extra stations added to the Overground (North Acton, Brixton?). They should put you in charge.

Good work - I agree about the block colours for termini - very clear. Also good to see that the main N-S and E-W axes which Beck was so proud of don't have to be lost.
Let's hope someone in authority sits up and takes notice before our map goes the way of the Tokyo underground map - which even residents of Tokyo say they don't understand, so heaven help visitors!
Oh and the "catherine wheel" logo for the Overground - a touch of genius!

North Acton would be a nice idea but where we cross over the central line there are 2 junctions at Acton Wells so this would make it very difficult to put in a station and platforms. Dazz285

An interchange with the Piccadilly before Gunnersbury would be extremely useful... I could go from Brondesbury to Heathrow and avoid Central London!

Dazz285 It would require that the Overground would be four tracked here with the platforms on the 'non-junction' lines - with the freight passing on the junction lines.

Dazz285 It would require that the Overground would be four tracked here with the platforms on the 'non-junction' lines - with the freight passing on the junction lines. And to do that would mean either new junctions or moving the signal box and taking land from the residents whose gardens run along the line. No land available on the North Acton station side due to a few warehouses ans a very large concrete built wall oposite the signal box. Dazz285

Does anyone have pictures of the Tube Line maps that are up in the train carriages. I am interested to see what they look like with the updates of the Overground stickers on them. TfL hasn't updated the ones on the web yet and I don't live in the UK so I can't see what they currently look like.
If someone can photograph them and send me them at:
pritpal.bhachu@lafarge-na.com
Thanks,

I didn't think it was going to take me as long as it did to do the map (two days work) but I wanted to see what the network would look like in a zonal sense. My partner in crime has informed me of a few mistakes (ie Willesden changing zones, I blame the offical 2010 map from TfL on that account!). Im going to edit inculde putting back the miss zone (just like the Met).
The original plan was for the full idea of the Overground with phase two but as you noted its really does wreck the map and will look a mess.
My next attempt (when this one is fixed) will be more like the tube map with zonal colours. This will mean the zones aren't straight lines but will look better overall I think. I may even include my original idea of Euston having its own zone in the middle of the map in its own box.

Any idea why your account comes up as "You must be signed in to see this content"? A shame, as I'd like to see your stuff but I have enough throwaway accounts as it is.

Ok anyone having problems just pm with an email and I'll sent it on to you. Ive done an updated verison that makes it look alot better with the new zonal system. I half suspect Acton Central's move was to help the map look neater.

I think Flickr is asking people to log in because some of the... erm... interesting other pics on your profile have triggered the adult content filter.
Did you notice any major size improvements by the way? ;-)

I like the idea of the zone numbers next to the station name... The station index uses this, so why not convey this for the actual station, instead of light coloured background 'greying' which becomes illegible over time, having faded through being outside, or becomes illegible from the lighting on platforms?
