Does anyone know if there will be any new emergency reversing points on the LU-signalled section of the ELL, between Dalston Junction and Surrey Quays?

I thought they were removing the LU signalling and putting in standard NR instead?

Can you envisage a need for new turnbacks in that section?

I thought they were removing the LU signalling and putting in standard NR instead? They are. The only thing LUL will be is the Infrastructure Controller. I don't know who will signal and be the command and control for the line though???

I don't know who will signal and be the command and control for the line though??? Really? When did that change? I have read previously that the existing ELL between Whitechapel and Canal Junction, plus the ELLX between Whitechapel and Dalston Junction, would be owned by LU, maintained by NR, and signalled by LU/LO/TfL signallers based at New Cross Gate, with the existing SCC at said site upgraded for the new line.

That's what I said (I think!). As to command and control staff, I dont think it has been agreed yet. All ELL staff will be re-deployed in December. My money would be on them being employed by MTR Laing.

I don't know who will signal and be the command and control for the line though??? This quote implies that LU/LO/TfL will not be signalling the ELLX between Dalston and Canal Junctions - from my reading, it implies that NR will be staffing the SCC responsible for this segment and that LU/LO/TfL would be relegated to only owning the fixed assets. Instead, I had always read that while the fixed assets will be owned by LU/LO/TfL and maintained/signalled by NR, the former would be responsible for providing the signalmen. As to command and control staff, I dont think it has been agreed yet. All ELL staff will be re-deployed in December. My money would be on them being employed by MTR Laing. This may very well be the case. Would such a decision be made after the ELL is closed?

Reply #7 in THIS THREAD should answer most of you questions TOK. With regard to staff currently working on the East London line, they are all being re-deployed within LUL.

Thanks for the thread - I should have found it myself Unfortunately the original topic of the thread is still open - will there be any emergency reversing points between Whitechapel and Dalston Junction? I can't imagine that the majority of the space on the four-track NLR viaduct between Shoreditch and Dalston will be left alone, festooned with weeds and graffiti.

There will be scissors crossovers north of Haggerston, north of Shadwell, and south of Canada Water.
