could a mod please look at my acount settings, and see what ive done wrong to not receive email notification? i thought id ticked the right boxes, but i dont get email notification to a subscribed thread. i did get email saying my account had been given the green light(LOL  ) but not to thread replies?? cheers |

You need to go into preferences once you have signed on.
Click Profile, modify profile, scroll down to Account Preferences, and select 'Opt in' for the 'receive email when new thread is posted'.
Make sure you remember to slick SAVE when done! Check the emails are not going to your spambox also.

Art, Mod Team. i had already done this, and my email account junk filter etc is all ok. the mass email etiing doesnt say "'receive email when new thread is posted" it just says mass emails, anyway it is turned on?? i did get an email when my account was activated, but since then i dont get email notification?? it appers my settings are set up to get them? weird.  |

You need to go to your 'MESSAGES' page, top right of home page, click on the brown/blue "xx messages" script. On the right of the options line ( 'new', 'inbox' etc.) select the RH button - preferences. In there you will find two options to check/uncheck for notifications. Make your choices, click on 'save preferences' and it should be job done. I've added this to the 'help for new members section' since we seem to have left it out..................  |

cheers ive just done that. i thought that was only for private messages, not replies to subscribed threads. Yes, this is Proboards and in their wisdom (unless someone corrects me) their system does not have facility for alerts to replies to threads, only to PMs. |

Yes, this is Proboards and in their wisdom (unless someone corrects me) their system does not have facility for alerts to replies to threads, only to PMs. If I'm not mistaken, you can get alerts to replies to threads, but you need to do the following: 1) bookmark a thread (a 'Bookmark' button to the bottom left of the page); 2) go to Profile -> Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks and set notification to 'Email'. You can also set a default notification method so you'll get notifications about all replies in bookmarked threads. |
