Hi guys,
Pay day has come and i have a list of things i wish to buy offline. Now theres a postal Strike on. Do you think i should wait until a few days after the post gets back to normal or order now???
I don't like the thought of ordering now and my items going to Wales!!!
Any advice??

Offline as in the shops? Or did you mean online?

They'll make their way in due course I'd hope. Larger/more expensive items might be sent on a courier rather than through the post anyway. (or is available as a cost option).

I ordered a new phone* from 3 yesterday and it arrived by Parceline this afternoon. Now that is what I call service.
*Sony Ericsson K800i
Two weeks ago I ordered some ramps for me and my Dad to use when servicing our cars. They e-mailed me yesterday to say that they can't get them, despite having sent me two e-mails to say that my order had been sorted. That is pi$$poor service.
While the post strikes are on, I will not order anything off eBay, just in case it gets lost.

**thread Hijack!!**
You've only just got the K800? I've had mine over a year and will be upgrading next week to the K850..................5mp camera......ooh I can't wait!! (yes I know there's already the Nokia N95 & Samsung G600 with 5mp cameras - but no manufacturer comes close to SE as far as I'm concerned, so I've had to wait two months for SE to release the K850.......and I know the wait will be worth it).
Out of interest, why didn't you go for the newer K810? It's exactly the same as the K800 - just newer.

You'd be surprised how many online only companies don't use Royal Mail anymore. Check and see what they use. If its anything other than Royal Mail, such as UKMAIL, order it, as they just hand it straight to the postman to deliver it to you, no going through through Royal Mail sorting. You'll still have to wait until the strike is over to get it though... Even if it is Royal Mail then order it anyway. Your stuff will be higher priority that the stuff that's posted after the strike! As for mobiles, the K800i is an brilliant phone. I prefer it to the K810, as the buttons are horrible! I would of said the same about SE, Colin, until I had the pleasure of using a N95! It's an amazing phone. Definitely the best Nokia have done in years!

I almost did get the N95 - but the woman in my local o2 shop said "are you sure?" - her advice was to wait for the K850 as they had "more complaints about the N95 than all the other phones put together".............this was backed up by the bloke at the counter complaining that his replacement N95 was duff too! Having looked at reviews on the net, the gripes don't seem to be abating either......

I have an N95 - which overall I'm very pleased with. The thing with me is that I'm not really a phone expert - I had a Sharp GX10 for about four years before upgrading to this one (could have had another three upgrades but didn't) so the N95 was great compared to my old one. I've taken some quite good videos and pics on it. However, it has crashed a few times and can sometimes be quite slow to use. The battery life on it isn't great either. As said though, it's 100 times better than my old one and generally I'm happy.

i have a n95 on t mobile as i use the HSDPA function bascially thats broadband via 3.5G but at earls court where we are we dont get a good signal so after reading up on it on the net you really need to unbrand it (take off the t mobile rubbish) and make it the generic firmware this is so you can update it. this acyually gives you the option to connect via UMTS which works so anyone having trouble with signal strength on the n95 i advise looking it up on the net just google n95 unbranding and if anyone wants the software i have it its simple and it does not invalidate the warranty as you update it in the end with proper nokia firmware the camera on the k800i is good we have them as work phones so we can take preety pictures of signal failures

Still got my trusty Nokia 3510i, a real museum piece!
Yeah, James, ask what other delivery options are available if you don't want to wait for it to come through the RM... A couple of co's I use are now offering same price delivery for a courier...
