What's it for? Seems to be very very rarely used The last time I've seen it being used, is for a freight train that had to stop there for a minute or two (without the driver getting out of its cab), then off it goes again.. Is it to simply link up platforms 11 / 12 (or whichever ones), to rest of the station? EDIT: Ah - have found the info: from Wikipedia... teach me to post before googling, won't it?

A Freightliner 66 is stable there most mornings on my way into Liverpool Street (approx 8am) - I get the impression that the 10a road is used as a stabling point until there's a hole in the timetable for a slower and very heavy freight train to make its way eastwards towards Harwich or even Dagenham Dock
