could anybody tell me,if you are staff and you travel to work from upminster station Aha, a subject I know well!! ;D ;D do you have to pay to park in the car park there. Yep. I wouldn't park in the station car park though - it's bloomin expensive in the mornings, and too dodgy late at night - I had three motors broke into before I learned my lesson That was five years ago and I haven't parked there since. At the moment (though Havering council are looking at big changes, subject to winning over the locals) there is free parking in all side roads, in designated bays. The roads closest to the station have yellow line restrictions 8am to 6pm, with others having yellow line restrictions 8am to 930am (and these are a respectable 5 minute walk to the station). All parking regulations are strictly enforced - as you'd expect for a London borough these days. To have a chance of getting in a bay, you need to park before 6am or after midday - any time between that and you'd be best to consider parking in the Cranham area and hopping on the 248/346 bus. There are virtually no restrictions at all in Cranham. Getting back to the roads around Upminster, I've found your best bet is to look at Waldegrave Gardens (next to the old folks home, opposite side of the road to the station) and Engayne Gardens (which runs off Waldegrave Gardens) - I happen to know there's a regular space available on late turns there now

I'm sure Colin would agree, if you are leaving it over night or very late, i suggest a steering wheel lock if your motor is flash. Although car crime isn't high here you never know!

Indeed - things like steering wheel or gear stick (krook lock) locks are a good idea. Whilst a 'proper' thief would easily get past such devices, why would they bother if the car next to yours has less security to get past
