Never heard of Esporta... Don't do the gym stuff myself, prefer to get my exercise traipsing up and down platforms all day! Must do at least three miles a day!

Hehe, the number of times i've seen people come back from a countryside trip on a bike and do not own mudguards and have the trademark 'brown line' up their back

I got mudguards... it's just that passing vehicles tend to splash from the side!

Hi guys, well i am tied between Fitness First and Esporta! If any of you go to these please tell me your experience!! Cheers and thanks James I used to use the local borough one when living in Enfield, cheap, discounts and it had the latest equipment, so one of those might be worth looking at. Otherwise its Fitness First. My cousin used to work there so I know they are decent, although it can vary from place to place, and they are a tad expensive (in my opinion). Also, for both, try and see if they've got any deals going. Push them for freebies or trials, they don't lose a penny by giving someone a week's free trial, especially if at the end you join one!

I remember reading something about Americans and gyms. They will happily pay hundreds of dollars per year to buy a gym membership, then drive the 5 miles there... as opposed to cycling there and then turning back and coming home without visiting the gym. Much cheaper.

well i dont bother with the gym, i go to work thats enough exercise
50 stairs to the canteen, so thats 200 just for going to work and going on lunch and then the 30 to the stock room which in an average day i visit around 20-30 times and walking from the front to the back and the fact i run up them! and the bonus rather than spending i earn!

when you cycle on the Heath do you go anywhere at either end? That's the hard part!
