A German woman in Dusseldorf blocked the entrance to an underground station when she mistook it for a subterranean car park, police said on Wednesday. The 52-year-old drove her Volkswagen Beetle across the pavement and into the entrance, where it came to a halt five steps down. Police estimated the damage to the station at around 1,500 euros (£1,000). Full story: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6705323.stm

It's not just the Germans! We had a similar incident at work where a motorist drove up a fire road and got his car stuck on some concrete steps leading down to the car park . Apparently it's our fault for them not being clearly marked... as if the large drop and handrails wasn't enough.
