On the way home this evening I saw a Silverlink Metro train sitting at the Primrose Hill platforms. I think it 's safe to assume it was very much out of service, but I was wondering if they often "hang around" that stretch of line?

Its between two busy bits of railway, the WCML and the North London Line, so holding them to time/congestion is pretty frequent. It closed in 1992, there are plans to re-open the station, but nothing definite.

Primrose Hill is on the link from Camden Road [North London Line], which passes right over Camden Market. I would like to see the station reopened. Quite a bit of freight uses this route... and Camden Market is a good place to wait, because it is right next to the track!

Its a key storage / regulation area for freights off the congested NLL before taking a path up the WCML - not that easy to reinstate a passenger service with the level of cross London freight these days. Would need extra tracks (there is some room for that)

Aye, they often wait on the viaduct for nearly 10 minutes for a path onto the WCML or NLL! Nice to get a piccy and ear a 66 purring away...

yes they normally mait there or by chalk farm safeway its to allow services from stratford [nll]
to watford junction in peak hours

It's now a Morrisons, folks! but yes, me and the partner of Trotters Independant Traders ;D refer to the same place...
Next time I'm there, I'll try and get some piccies to show you just how close the tracks are to the market!
