I've just seen this on the TfL delays map:
How can a lift be working in one direction only?

Do the lifts have separate "in" and "out" doors (as at, for example, Russell Square).

You mean like the lifts on the Sydney Metro Monorail?

It means the lift on the northbound platform is not working...

It actually implies that you can use the lift up to the northbound platform from street level, but once you are on the platform you cannot get a lift down to street level.
I've never used the lifts at Heron Quays (I'm fortunate enough to be able to manage the stairs), so I don't know if there are multiple doors or not.

I was intrigued enough by this to take a detour there this afternoon and the lift is working completely normally both ways. Maybe it's the down escalator that's broken? (didn't check)
